MedicAlert jewellery and membership go hand in hand to protect you in an emergency, therefore we do not sell our jewellery without membership.
MedicAlert membership provides valuable information to emergency and medical professionals when it is needed the most.
The life-saving benefits mean that members do not need to worry about information being ignored or outdated; new records and any changes made to them are checked by our team of registered nurses and our members are prompted to review their information annually.
Membership goes beyond the limitations of jewellery engraving; it gives flexibility to individuals with changing needs and requirements, as member records can adapt easily and frequently.
Each piece of jewellery is engraved with a unique membership number which is used to access vital details in an emergency, protecting our members 24/7, 365 days a year.
MedicAlert membership is £32 a year (less than 10p a day or the price of a coffee a month).
Setting up a direct debit to renew your annual service will discount this cost to £29.50.
It's best to consider the information you might need to let people know about in an emergency, or if you can't speak for yourself.
This may include next-of-kind information, health conditions, medication or any allergies you may have. You can also let us know about any specific wishes you have such as an Advance Decision or if you're an organ donor.
Our team of Registered Nurses will prioritise your information to aid in an emergency. This ensures your most vital details will be engraved on your disc, with your other important information held on your personal Member record; if further information is needed, emergency and medical professionals are able to securely access it.
We can also scan documents such as pacemaker/Implant information, ICD cards and Advance Decisions to hold safely on your record.
If you have chosen to receive your communications electronically, then you will receive a reminder email 2 weeks before your renewal date (you will also receive an alert if your membership lapses).
If you have chosen to receive your communications by post, then you will receive a reminder letter 4 weeks before your renewal date.
Simply log into your 'My MedicAlert' account and through the user-friendly dashboard, select the category you would like to access.
Then simply select the fields you want to change and always remember to click on 'SAVE' at the bottom of the screen and your changes will be made immediately.
Alternatively, members can still call, email or write to us and speak to a friendly Membership Service Advisor.
A 'My MedicAlert' account is the most convenient way to manage your information.
It will enable you to view, check and update your record easily, so if you change medications or have recently moved, you can just log in and update quickly and without fuss.
It will also give you visibility over your Orders and access to a range of services and benefits that are exclusive to MedicAlert members.
Membership does not require you to create a 'My MedicAlert' account; all members can still process any record updates, services or orders over the phone or by post as normal.
If you need any assistance with your 'My MedicAlert' account, please contact us and speak to a Membership Service Advisor and they will do their best to help you.
Scroll down to the bottom of our website to locate our contact details.
All members are provided with a unique GB membership number when they join.
This number will be on your wallet card, on the back of your MedicAlert disc (engraved at the bottom) and in any paperwork we send you.
MedicAlert is an international service so you can join MedicAlert UK from anywhere in the world.
However, we do have affiliates in several countries so it is advisable to check for your nearest MedicAlert first as this may offer you a more cost-effective service as there will be no currency exchange rates/fees to consider.
All MedicAlert jewellery comes with a unique membership number and emergency phone line catered to that country.
Should you wish to join us from another MedicAlert affiliate, you will need to start as a new member and purchase new jewellery; this ensures you will have the correct emergency phone line and membership number engraved on your disc.
We have a variety of disc shapes and sizes that hold different amounts of engraving.
If you create a 'My MedicAlert' account, you will be able to see how much information will fit on your chosen disc; each product page will show an interactive illustration of your engraving options.
If you are unable to create a 'My MedicAlert' account, please contact our Membership Service Team and they will assist you to see what is the best solution for your needs.
Rest assured, any information that will not fit on your disc, will be securely held on your personal membership record and our team of Registered Nurses will prioritise your information to ensure it is optimal in an emergency.
As a benefit to your membership, we offer an 'Exchange Disc' service for sterling silver and gold jewellery.
This service means you can send us your MedicAlert bracelet or necklace and get the disc swapped with a new one.
This is particularly helpful if you want to add or remove any engraved information at a reduced cost.
To take advantage of this service, simply sign into your 'MyMedicAlert' account and book this service in your dashboard.
Different products are better suited to different activities. For example, Stainless steel is our most robust material used, and it can be worn in water (unless otherwise stated)
Please note: It is best to wash your jewellery with soapy warm water and dry it with a soft cloth after swimming to keep it clean.
· Wash regularly in warm, soapy water. For fabric and leather straps, spot clean using a damp cloth
· Do not use abrasive cloths/cleaners as they will scratch jewellery
· Perspiration, perfume, creams, sun lotion etc. can increase tarnishing
· Apply creams, lotions, perfumes etc before putting your jewellery on, never apply directly to jewellery
· Some steroid-based medications/creams can increase tarnishing
· We advise not to bath/swim in Silver, Gold or Rose Gold jewellery
· Wearing Silver, Gold & Rose Gold jewellery along with other items of jewellery/watches will increase wear
· Misuse of jewellery will result in increased wear/damage.
· Avoid household cleaning products as this can damage & tarnish Silver, Gold and Rose Gold jewellery
· When your jewellery is new and highly polished, a cleaning cloth may dull its appearance
· Enamelled bracelets are affected by wear and tear. Care should be taken to avoid denting or scratching the enamel. Wearing other jewellery or watches alongside an enamelled product may also affect the appearance of the enamel
Store all jewellery individually, as storing jewellery together means that they could potentially damage one another. Store in a cool, dark & dry environment – such as jewellery box or pouch.
We include free engraving as the standard for all of our discs.
Our team of nurses will review the details you provide us with and prioritise the information for engraving based on the "ABC" principles of emergency treatment.
Unfortunately, we don't provide free replacement jewellery. Please treat your MedicAlert jewellery with care, as you would with other jewellery.
Due to the nature of MedicAlert membership, we only engrave our own collection of jewellery. Every product we provide comes with the quality assurance of the registered and internationally recognised MedicAlert logo.
This also ensures that you are receiving an item of jewellery that has been meticulously checked and adheres to our own requirements for quality and durability.
To deliver the quality and finish that you would expect from MedicAlert jewellery, our metal types may contain small amounts of nickel and other base metals.
Many of our members with metal allergies successfully wear gold or silver items, but this depends on how severe your reaction is.
You may prefer to choose a "barrier" product; where it is limited or no metal contact with your skin, for example, our Sports Bands.
Standard UK postage: £2.75
Special Recorded UK postage: £6.95
(Requires a signature and applicable to items with a value of more than £45.00)
All international postage: £10.75
Due to the bespoke nature of our jewellery, please allow up to 10 working days to receive your order. However, most items arrive before this.
We use Royal Mail to deliver your jewellery once it has been made to your individual requirements.
If your order is above £45, then your parcel will be sent as Special Delivery (signature required).
Your MedicAlert jewellery is custom engraved, therefore it cannot be re-used.
Unless your jewellery has a fault covered by warranty, then we cannot accept returns on personalised goods.
Where there is a fault covered by the warranty, MedicAlert will repair or replace the item and send back to you free of charge.
If we are unable to repair or replace your jewellery, then we will provide a refund to you.
If you simply require a jewellery alteration, you are responsible for any additional payments including postal charges.
We guarantee that your jewellery will be made to the highest standards by our expert jewellers and it will be delivered to you in pristine condition.
MedicAlert provides a Warranty on all manufacturer defects from the dispatch date as follows:
• 3 months for beaded items
• 6 months for sports bands
• 12 months for all other jewellery
The Warranty covers: defects in the material or workmanship of clasps, chains, straps or wires, watch batteries and the readability of the disc.
The Warranty does not cover: repairs made by anyone other than our skilled jewellery team; products damaged from everyday wear and tear; tarnishing of silver; scratching of the disc, enamel, chain and attachments; damage resulting from misuse or accidental handling; exposure to lotions and creams; lost/misplaced products; and changes in engraved information after the engraved product is approved.
In the unlikely event that you have a problem with the jewellery within the warranty period, you can return the item to us for inspection and we will either repair or replace it.
Your statutory rights are not affected by this guarantee.
Please remember our Registered Nurses are here to review your information to make sure your record helps you when you really need it.
They aren’t able to give you specific medical advice on your conditions or treatment.
